Toyo Tire to set up European R&D centre

Toyo Tire will set up its first European research & development centre in Germany. The new centre will be looking into survey and evaluation of raw materials, tyre assessment and collect information.

The centre will come up in Willich, North Rhine-Westphalia and is scheduled to start operations this fall to build a strong technical foundation in Europe by strengthening capability of product development, corresponding to the “movement” of next-generation mobility.

With the establishment of the centre, Toyo will have technology development sites in the United States, Japan and Europe respectively. Toyo will enhance its capability of development among the current R&D centres and the new European centre by combining and sharing knowledge and information collected.

The company has already announced its plan to set up a tyre manufacturing plant in Serbia, which will start product by early 2022.

The center will combine material research with technology development and fulfill the function of ensuring the development and production of high-performance, high-value-added tyres in the new plant developed on site.
