ATRC 2019 all set to go

The countdown for the fifth edition of Asia’s biggest tyre industry conference, Asian Tyre & Rubber Conference (ATRC 2019) gained momentum with the line-up of global leaders in the industry associating with it as speakers and delegates. The two-day ATRC 2019, organized by Tyre Asia published by Asian Business Media (ABM) will be held at Hyatt Regency in Chennai, India on June 20 and 21.

“ATRC 2019 comes at a time when global automotive industry, which is practically well-heeled by tyre industry, is passing through tremendous changes. The conference this time has chosen the most apt theme to be discussed: “Automation Technology: Future Reality in Manufacturing.” We have speakers from various segments of the
industry to present papers and initiate discussion, sharing of ideas and take on the future with positive economic and sustainable possibilities,” Tom Thomas, Executive Director, Technology & Projects, CEAT Tyres, Chairman of ATRC, said.

Anant Goenka, Managing Director of CEAT Tyres, will inaugurate ATRC 2019 and deliver the Keynote Inaugural Address.

Anant Goenka has a special place in Indian tyre industry as the leader who turned CEAT Tyres into a vibrant global brand that offers a number of market-winning products. He led the company’s aggressive expansion moves through increasing adaptation of rigorous Total Quality Management (TQM) and automation. CEAT is the first tyre company in the world, outside of Japan, to earn the Deming Prize for achieving business transformation by implementing TQM. His presence at the ATRC 2019 will boost up the event’s profile.

Automotive sector

The automotive industry plays a leading role in defining the course of the tyre industry. ATRC 2019 will have some leading companies from the sector taking part. Volvo, and Ashok Leyland are among the companies from the automobile sector at the conference.

Kamal Bali, Managing Director and Member of Board, Volvo India, will be Special Invitee at the event. He will deliver the Special Invitee Address in the Inaugural Session on June 20, 2019.

The Volvo leader’s presence at ATRC 2019 will add to its value as Volvo represents cutting edge technology in global automobile industry, which runs close to the theme of the conference.
Kamal Bali joined the Volvo Group in India in April 2014, as Managing Director and a Board member of the company. With an illustrious career spanning over three decades, predominantly in the automotive industry, Kamal has worked for well-known Indian brands and established multinational corporations in India. He has had an insightful experience in the functional areas of sales, marketing and supply chain, before taking over P&L responsibilities in the year 2002.

An engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kamal began his professional career as a management trainee with the Eicher Group in 1981. Prior to spearheading the Volvo Group in India, Kamal was working as President & CEO of Singapore Technologies (STK) in India, establishing the brand LeeBoy. He has accumulated precious cross-functional knowledge, is respected for his values’ based leadership and professionalism with strong ethos.

Kamal is a thought leader and an active speaker at various national and international forums. Currently, he also holds the following positions:-
• Chairman of Swedish Chamber of Commerce India (SCCI)
• Chairman of CII Karnataka (2017-18)
• Industry Advisory Executive Panel (IAEP) member of CIMA, London
• Member of Karnataka Government Vision Group (Industry)
• Board Member of Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB), Bhubaneswar
• Member of the Joint Board of Directors of Xavier Emlyon Global School of Business (XEMGSB).

Another major new entry is that of the Japan Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (JATMA). Dr Kenji Kurata, Executive Director of JATMA, will be one of the speakers. He will present an overview of the tyre industry in Japan, the source of some of the best selling tyres in the world.
