Cooper Tire awards annual scholarships
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has awarded scholarships to six high school students pursing higher education. The Roy V. Armes scholarship ($5,000) and five Cooper Centennial Scholarships ($1,000 each) were awarded. Jay Kaufman has received the second annual Roy V. Armes Scholarship. The Roy V. Armes Scholarship was established in 2016 to honour former Cooper Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President, Roy Armes, upon his retirement. The scholarship is focused on high-achieving students who will attend a four-year institution of higher learning to pursue careers in business or engineering and goes to the child of a Cooper employee in the United States. The Centennial Scholarship recipients are William Bloomfield, Julia Fulk, Julie Jones, Jessica Kreais and Taylor McCutcheon
“This is a very deserving group of scholarship winners who have demonstrated the commitment to their education and achieving their goals. These six recipients were selected from the largest number of applications we have received to date, which showcases their extraordinary efforts in the classroom and their communities. We are proud to support the children of Cooper employees through these national scholarship programs and wish them well in their future endeavours,” said Brad Hughes, Cooper’s President & Chief Executive Officer.
