Michelin launches Pilot Sport 4 Tyres in India

Michelin has launched Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres for premium and sports cars in India. The tyre was developed in partnership with some of the world’s most demanding car manufacturers. It is one of the latest in the line of high-performance, safe and versatile tyres, the company claims.

“Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is designed to give premium and sports car motorists the pleasure of driving without compromising on performance, safety and longevity. The technological innovations in the ultra-responsive tread of this tyre come from Michelin’s longstanding experience of innovating for motor racing, most recently for Formula E and our in-depth expertise of dynamic interactions between the architecture, tread pattern, and materials that ensure optimal management of the contact patch with the road,” said Mohan Kumar, Executive Vice President, Michelin India.

“The sidewall markings of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres are designed using the ‘Premium Touch’ effect. All sizes of the MICHELIN Pilot Sport 4 have a wheel rim protector which besides providing an attractive look on the wheel, protects the sidewall and wheel from kerbing damage. The technology used in the new tyre consists of a belt with hybrid aramid and nylon reinforcement that ensures optimal directional control. With high density, centrifugal force at high speeds is effortlessly controlled and the tyre contact patch remains constant, even at high speed,” the company said in a statement.

The other advantages of the tyre include-high performance, achieved through a new homogeneous tread compound mix including functional elastomers and silica, the asymmetric design helps in handling and safety in addition to minimising noise and the tyre has a strong casing leading to an overall robust performance, Michelin says.
