Goodyear showcasing concept tyres at 2017 Geneva International Motor Show

Goodyear Tire is displaying its long-term vision for future smart, connected tyres at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show with the launch of three new concept tyres – the Eagle 360 Urban, IntelliGrip Urban, and the Goodyear CityCube designed for the Toyoyta i-TRIL concept car.

Goodyear Eagle 360 Urban

The Eagle 360 Urban is Goodyear’s latest concept tire. The 3-D printed sphere is the first concept tyre to be powered by Artificial Intelligence, and is able to sense, decide, transform and interact. Combined with a bionic skin and morphing tread, the Eagle 360 Urban has the ability to put knowledge into practice. The tyre will become part of the vehicle’s ‘nervous system’ and the connected world of the Internet of Things. That way, it is ready to rapidly adapt to changing circumstances, as well as the evolving needs of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) for fleets and their users.

Goodyear IntelliGrip Urban

The IntelliGrip Urban is a concept tire designed for future-generation autonomous electric ride-sharing vehicles in urban areas. With its advanced Sensor-in-Tire technology, the IntelliGrip Urban is a smart tyre designed to support autonomous vehicle control systems and enhance passenger safety. The concept tyre senses road and weather conditions. By gathering this critical data and sending it directly to the vehicle’s computer system, it enables the car to optimize speed, braking, handling and stability.

Goodyear CityCube

The Goodyear CityCube is designed for the Toyota i-TRIL concept car, which was unveiled at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show. As a result of advanced sensor technology and a unique tread design, the CityCube can identify a variety of road conditions and transmit this data to the vehicle to support the advanced collision prevention systems. The CityCube has a unique contour shape and mixed fitment, helping to enhance safe driving, better grip and more cornering stability.
