Kumho Tire opens first US tyre plant
Kumho Tire opened its first US manufacturing plant in Macon, Georgia to enhance its presence in the North American market, according to a media report.
Kumho Tire investment $450 million for the plant, which will churn out large tyres for passenger cars and ultrahigh performance tyres, of which 80% are expected to be sold to global automakers in North America, reported Korea Herald.
The plant, equipped with latest technology, has an annual capacity of 4 million tyres that will scale up to 10 million tyres a year.
Quoting the company chairman Park, Korea Herald, said, “We believed a production base on this crucial continent is a must if we are to significantly expand our presence in the market in our bid to become a top tyre manufacturer.”
