Giti receives five bids of initial work on US plant

Giti Tire received five bids, ranging from $7.9 million to $19.8 million, for initial work on the tyre company’s first US plant, reported Heraldonline.com.

Giti is inviting bids to prepare 250 acres of the 1,152 acre site which was purchased from Springs Corp, added the report.

There are five companies, Brad Cole Construction,  Clary Hood, Eutaw Construction, Morgan and Phillips & Jordon , have participated in the bid. The lowest bid of $7,998,934 has been offered by Brad Cole, while Phillips & Jordon‘s has out the highest bid of $19,889,662.

With an investment of $560 million, the Chester Country tyre plant, expected to open in the first quarter of 2017, will churn out 30,000 passenger and light truck tyres a day at full capacity utilisation and is expected to employ 1,700 people.

Quoting Karlisa Parker, economic development director for Chester Country, the news report said that the company anticipates an official groundbreaking in Mid-February, but site work could start in January .
