12th Auto Expo Inaugurated by Praful Patel

Autoexpo4 The 12th Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2014, at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida was inaugurated by Praful Patel, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises yesterday. The Motor Show will open for public from today , February 7, 2014 to February 11, 2014.

This year, the event is being held in two different parts at two different venues. The Motor Show, inaugurated by Praful Patel, is being held in Greater Noida, while the Auto Component Show will be at Pragati Maidan between February 6, 2014 and February 9, 2014.

In his inauguration speech, Praful Patel, said, “There has been a temporary roadblock in the growth of the automobile industry during the last year and the ever-growing industry witnessed reversal of trend. It is important that the Government takes the right measures and gives incentives and energy stimulus to achieve a turnaround.”

He also urged for greater cooperation between the auto industry and the government to help revive the sector.

The minister also inaugurated the maiden Electric Mobility Pavilion at the Auto Expo 2014- The Motor Show. The pavilion displays various concepts of Hybrid Automobiles, and will hold sessions educating visitors about the nuances of electric technology along with a practical experience of driving electric cars and two wheelers giving consumers a first-hand experience of the vehicles.

The exhibits at Theme Pavilion include Maruti Suzuki Swift RE, Toyota Kirloskar Camry Hybrid, Tata Motor’s Iris and Magic, TVS Motors E-Scooter and E-3Ws, Hero Eco E-Scooter, Mahindra & Mahindra E2O and Maxximo

The pavilion also displays various concepts of Hybrid Automobiles, and will hold sessions educating visitors about the nuances of Electric Technology along with a practical experience of driving electric cars and two wheelers giving consumers a first-hand experience of the vehicles.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Dasari, Vice President of SIAM and Managing Director, Ashok Leyland Limited said “As a result of growing GDP, India’s primary energy consumption is expected to increase by 70% in the next ten years. The gap between domestic crude oil production and consumption is widening, leading to increase in imports and consequent impact on the trade deficit. Thus, Electric Mobility Pavilion will set a milestone to create awareness amongst consumers. This has come as a part of the composite communication strategy espoused under the National Mission on Electric Mobility.”

The Auto Component Show started from yesterday at Pragati Maidan. Like in the previous edition, this year too, auto component companies from China, Germany, South Korea and Taiwan have participated in the show. For the first time, this year, the show is having a pavilion for garage equipments
